Scan Station Rental FAQ
-
If you require a specific time slot before booking, please reach out with your requested time(s) to check our availability. Once we confirm, you can come back here and check out online for the appropriate option(s).
Alternatively, if you do not have an immediate need for a specific time block, please check out for the appropriate options you prefer (everything from 1-hour to 50-hour time blocks). You can then call or email for availability so we can block out any times you would like.

How many rolls you can scan in an hour varies greatly due to the scanner’s skill or experience, film format, and the quality of the exposures throughout the roll. Medium-format film may be faster to scan due to the fewer number of images to convert per roll. Alternatively, 35mm film might take a bit longer with sometimes more than 36 images per roll. We find that a knowledgeable scanner can scan and convert a 35mm roll in about 10 minutes or less.
Finally, if you have conversion software at home (i.e. Negative Lab Pro and Adobe Lightroom Classic, though there are also other free or paid solutions), you can make the most of your rental by simply capturing rolls in as little as 60 seconds each. You can then take your raw files with you and can simply convert later at your convenience.

We recommend bringing your film to scan, film-safe gloves, a hard drive to load files onto, and drinks or snacks to sustain your scanning session.
-
We provide all the scanning holders, light source, copy stand, camera, macro lens, cleaning solution and wipes, use of a mini-fridge and microwave, etc. — everything you need to scan 35mm or 120 film for hours at a time. For specialty film such as large-format film, APS, mounted slides, etc., we have add-ons available to scan these as well.
-
Because very few people require large-format capabilities, and because the additional equipment needed to scan these formats are expensive, we offer large-format scanning equipment as separate add-ons.
Add-ons are 50% less when purchased with packages. Not all hours in a package need to have the add-ons to qualify. For example, you may get a 20-hour package and 10 add-on hours for 4x5, but you will still get the 50% discount on those 10 add-on hours.
There is also an add-on to use the Fujifilm GFX 100S and Hasselblad 120mm Makro lens. This combination unlocks up a 100-MP medium-format sensor capable of 16-bit color scans, ultra-high resolution multi-shot captures exceeding 400 megapixels. Multi-shot can also be simultaneously used to remove false color for industry-leading color fidelity. Additional software is required to combine these files at a later time, and these are all very advanced features requiring additional training and skill. Use of the GFX 100S requires an additional 45-minute training priced the same as another Advanced Training.
Add-On Pricing
GFX 100S Add-On: +$20/hr + $15 setup fee per session
All accessories included. Based on availability. One-time $75 advanced training fee required. Hourly rate qualifies for 50% discount with general package purchase. -
