Consignment FAQ

  • If you’re ready to sell, reach out to us to schedule an appointment to come into the shop. We will need a $55 consignment fee up-front to cover film testing costs. Then, we will list your camera for sale alongside our other inventory.

  • Pricing is based on a variety of factors, and we will provide guidance. Usually, there will be a high or low range, and you can decide how you would like to price within that range. Of course, higher-priced items may take longer to sell, while lower-priced items will move more quickly.

Additionally, you may set the terms of maximum discounts you would be willing to accept if we were to hold a sale on cameras. The 25% consignment fee is always split accordingly, so we also “contribute” to any sale pricing.

  • We disburse funds several days after the end of the 7-day return window. During this time, the customer may return equipment for any reason, less varying deductions based on that reason. All related customer service is handled by us, but you will simply receive payment after completion of the sales cycle, usually 10-14 days after the original sale assuming there have been no returns.

  • Consignment involves marketing and sales effort on our part. You may still choose to terminate consignment for any reason, but we will the charge a termination fee of 5% of the value of the camera ($25 minimum).

  • Once listed, your item is under consignment indefinitely. After six months of not selling, we may terminate the consignment with no fee. You will also have the option of lowering the price or, if mutually agreed, continuing the consignment as-is.

  • If you sell your camera separately while we still have the camera, our consignment termination fee will simply apply, but you are then free to take the equipment. If we have already sold the gear to a customer, we cannot obligate that person to return the equipment, so you may be out of luck. If you think you may have a buyer pending, we encourage you to reach out to us immediately, as you may pause consignment at any time for up to 72 hours for a pause fee of $10.

  • At all times, the original owner is responsible for non-working cameras. Issues can present in cameras at any time (i.e. corroding LCD displays, lens separation, etc.). Additionally, our film tests are thorough and more than what most others do, but they are also far from exhaustive. As such, we cannot take responsibility for issues discovered during testing, after-the-fact, or during a customer’s return window. We also reserve the right to offer modest courtesy extensions of the return window in extenuating circumstances.

The only time we will help to the best of our ability is if we cause clearly physical, external damage (i.e. if we accidentally drop your gear, we will of course take responsibility for this).

If an issue is discovered once a consignment period has begun, we will consult with you about your options. In some cases, with minor issues, we can lower the price appropriately for the discovered issue and can simply disclose this. With more extreme issues, you may prefer to sell your camera for parts or terminate your consignment altogether. This is always sad for eneryone, so in these instances, we waive the termination fee.
