Pro Scans
READ FIRST: These scanning services are for advanced users who understand what these scans can achieve. Most do not need these services, but some absolutely require them. Do not check out for these services unless you are aware of these options. There are no 100% refunds for orders once placed. It is your responsibility to only order scans appropriate and allowed for the formats for which we offer them (info below). We are more than happy to explain these to you, but the best way to learn about these options is to read through our Membership FAQ on your membership benefits page, which explains all these features in detail. You can get most of the applicable information in the IMPORTANT Additional Information section below.
NOTE: Pro scans are currently available, but ULTRA, INSANE, and LUDICROUS scans are coming soon!

File Delivery Options
Color-Corrected TIFF (Standard)
This is likely what you’re used to. Clean, finished, incredibly detailed 16-bit TIFF files from a single-capture of our GFX 100S.
This is the gold-standard file return for all member-level scans selected here. Nothing beats a finished, edited TIFF.
Economy Pro Raw
A unique option that gives you 100% control at 66% of the cost.
This unique option allows you to get the same incredible image quality without the expense. Whether you want to save money without sacrificing quality by doing some work yourself, or if you simply prefer to have greater control over the entire conversion process, this option provides unfinished, unedited negative/raw files that you finish yourself. All the quality, 100% control, and significant savings. Note: due to the raw file type for export for this option, these photos are unedited in any way and require your own negative-to-positive process, cropping, etc. They provide more color and tonality flexibility and with the same overall quality compared to a TIFF export, yet come at lower file size on the disk due to TIFF’s inefficient file sizes.
TIFF+Raw
The best of both worlds.
This option combines the previous two options, providing a copy of the unedited raw files for any use in addition to the usual, finished TIFF files.
TIFF+Raw+LR Catalog
Have it all for ultimate flexibility.
In addition to standard TIFF output, which gives you near-finished files, the Lightroom catalog file (together with the raw images) allows you to have a record of the edits we made in a fully editable format. Fire up the catalog for an order into your own Lightroom, and make small tweaks to your liking without starting over. Or, simply import the catalog to keep a local workflow/record of the edits as though your own personal in-house studio did all the work. Note, receiving these files costs nothing extra, but working with and/or editing these files fully requires you to own paid versions of both Adobe Lightroom and Negative Lab Pro.
Resolution Options
PRO+
Priced per Roll or Sheet | Good for industry-leading TIFF scans with unique options pros love.
These are similar to the non-member Pro scans: CMOS-sensor, single-capture camera scans with increased dynamic range, resulting in up to 40-90 MP TIFF files. With Pro+ and only as a member, you have the option for additional Raw, Raw+Catalog, and TIFF+Raw+Catalog file delivery.
ULTRA
Priced per Roll or Sheet | Good for incredible scans and even higher resolution.
Only possible for 35mm panoramic (i.e. XPAN) and larger (trust us: this is a waste for a standard 35mm frame and will not resolve any more detail than PRO+ scans already will for this format), these are scanned using two stitched captures from a 100 MP sensor, providing output of 60-150+ MP, depending on crop factor for each format.
INSANE
Priced per Image or Sheet* | Good for getting the most out of roll film or nearly anything you’d ever use from sheet film.
From this point and on, we only provide such scans for large-format film. While we do consider wide medium format film such as 6x12 or 6x17 in this category, the previous ULTRA scans already approach and exceed the limits of resolution provided by smaller formats. INSANE scans provide the same industry-leading dynamic range and color information, but also get even more out of each sheet with 3-image multi-captures that provide 100-250 MP images depending on crop factor for each format.
LUDICROUS
Priced per 20 sq.-in. Sheet* | Good for maximizing the resolution of all sheet film.
This is as insane as it gets. Frankly, few need this. But if you like museum quality, drum-scan-crushing results, LUDICROUS is for you. Also just for larger-format film on a per-sheet basis, we get a little crazy and stitch at 1:1 on a medium format sensor. What kind of resolution is that? Try 240 MP 4x5s, 350 MP 5x7s, or whopping 900 MP 8x10s. That’s megapixels, not megabytes. Yes, your files will be larger. We highly recommend hard drive file delivery (via in-person drop-off/pickup or via mail) for these massive files.
*LUDICROUS scans are priced per 4x5 sheet. You must adjust your cart when checking out for 5x7 or 8x10, as the number of captured images at 1:1 resolution for these formats is significantly greater. When providing these larger formats, you must check out for 1.5x the number of 5x7 sheets or 2x the number of 8x10 sheets you are having scanned. For 5x7, you must round up. For example, for three sheets of 8x10 scanned with LUDICROUS scans, please check out for six such scans. For three sheets of 5x7 LUDICROUS scans, please check out for five such scans (rounded up from 4.5, or 1.5*3). For two sheets of 4x5 LUDICROUS scans, please check out for two such scans.
**All Pro-level scans (anything on this page, as well as Pro scans on the standard page) are camera-scan-based. We use the best dust removal technologies, but some dust and/or small hairs may still remain across the frames of all Pro scans. We believe the additional scan quality far outweighs the often imperceptible occasional dust spot for most uses. For manual dust removal options, we will have professional editing as a service available in the near future, but can provide this today with a custom quote.
